Jennifer Jane meets the giant Part 2

She arrived just in time for her lunch, feeling very nearly as miserable as the poor giant. She tried all afternoon to think of a way to help him, but her mum had put her to bed and kissed her goodnight without her being able to think of a thing. Next morning she woke up still feeling thoughtful.
"You've got a long face this morning!" said her mum, "just look in the basin full of water before you wash your face and see how miserable you look".
Jennifer Jane did as she was told and looked into the water. It was rather like looking into a mirror and she saw her own face looking very sad.
She still couldn’t think of a way to help the poor giant and she felt so sorry for him, that a tear trickled out of the corner of one eye and fell into the water making her reflection ripple in the basin.
When she saw her reflection wobbling about in the water, she cheered up at once; she'd just thought of a way to help the giant with his problem. After breakfast, she ran along the garden into the wood and then along the path which led to the miserable giant and his pool of salt tears.
"Can you stop crying for just a moment?" she called out when she got within shouting distance, "I've got an idea for helping you to be happy in your job".
"Oh good," said the giant, "do you know, I really believe you can help me, you look so pleased with yourself".
She told him how funny her reflection had looked when she’d cried into her wash basin that morning and said he should try looking into his pool in the same way. The giant leaned forward and looked into the pool of tears, which was quite still now that he had stopped crying. As he did so, one last tear rolled down his cheeks and fell into the pool with a big splash.
When he saw his reflection ripple in the water, he leaned back and roared with laughter. In fact he laughed so much, he laughed till he cried and as he cried, he had to lean forward so that the tears fell into the pool. This made his reflection even funnier and he was laughing so much by this time, that he couldn’t even say thank you to Jennifer Jane for helping him.
Jennifer Jane went back home feeling pleased that she'd been able to help the giant with his problem. Occasionally, when the wind blew in the right direction, she can hear him laughing at his reflection in the pool. She knows he's still crying with laughter, because when mum and dad take her to the seaside for a holiday, the sea is always nice and salty.
