I HAVE NO SECRET VALENTINE

I have no secret valentine
The one I love's already mine,
My lover knows I hold her dear
I prove it's so throughout the year
While she in truth of likewise mind
Is always thoughtful, ever kind.
Cards and gifts on just one day
Are not how we prefer to say
Such things that e'er should be our thought
And cards and gifts alone mean nought
Should love be silent all year long;
Roses red can't right that wrong.
Valentine's days are oh so nice
To my mind they but suffice
To reaffirm what we should know;
They're but one scene in a four act show.
Through spring and summer, winter, fall
If Valentine's means ought at all,
It is the icing on the cake
Which all year true lovers bake.
I have no secret valentine
I am hers and she is mine,
We both know that we're held dear
We prove it's so throughout the year.
