It wasn’t said
as it was meant;
even so
repent, repent.
Take it back,
it don’t ring true;
take the rope,
a pull is due.
And in due course,
will we prevail
with a reckoning force
hot on our tail?
We’ll take a lead,
get ourselves ahead
or the only thing waiting
will be the sleep of the dead.
In different words
there’s no intent;
all the same
repent, repent.
Take it from me
it don’t ring true;
take it away
the time is due.
And in due course
will we survive?
Our escape
will keep us alive.
We’ll take a lead,
get ourselves ahead
or the only thing waiting
will be the sleep of the dead.

I too would be more than interested to hear these, Mark. Your words are so very lyrical, as here, and all-but 'sing themselves'.
