Harry Gore spared himself
The final act.
Stopped short of mortal sin and
Calmly passed the anguish on.
Reduced his likely outcomes
Down from infinite to one.
Stepped straight into the path
Of certainty and then was gone.
When he lay upon the track
The train was bound to come.
The driver skilfully applied the brakes,
Did all he could have done.
Harry’s hands are clean,
His soul intact.

Clever little poem, like it, but, for me, the jury's still out on Harry.
