For You They Come

They enter quietly these demons
Not with fanfare and trumpets
But slide in under our door
Mocking those who try to resist
Inwards ever inwards
They eat away at our thoughts
Lies,untruths,deceit,all demons
But for you they come.
Secretly moving into our minds
Hiding in the shadows
Nestling in the background
Till they become part of you
Waiting for the right time
To pounce, trap, ensnare
Then take over for a short time
But for you they come.
They can be there for years
You never know when they will strike
Take you by suprise
Morning, noon or night
Fear takes a hold
They love fear
It drives them on
But for you they come.
You think they have gone
Finally you are rid
No more sins to confess
The battle is won
A sigh of relief
Then the whispers start
Please no not again
But for you they come.
