Waiting to Exhale

Entering, automatic almost Robotic,
my wheels a mind of their own...
I catch sight of the unpredictable
battle ahead...uncertain thoughts
mingle, running through my mind,
behind me Sun peeks behind grey clouds,
I proceed pursued by those other predators,
ready to pounce on this pusillanimous
human...smiling, too timid and sensitive, to
express what she is really feeling inside...
I carry on like a raptorial animal,
the crazy hunter gatherer fighting
for food...winding my way down
perilous Isles...those angry staring
individuals, exhausted...fatigue in
their eyes, lost in their own personal
frustrations, they are as perplexed as me.
Compulsion forces us onwards
never daring to change direction,
harassed by the pressure of those
words, 'we must have this and that.'
Trolleys steeped high
with Christmas cheer,
little ones cry while
their Mothers Exhale,
I see through those fake smiles
as they see through my own...
but am I invisible? For even as
I stand here waiting to proceed,
it's almost as if I'm impossible
to see, I say excuse me about
a hundred times, but still they
must stand talking...not moving.
Wisdom is the key to judiciousness,
how I long to be back at home in my
armchair...relaxing to The Classics,
Bach...Debussy, or maybe some Jazz,
to empty my mind release the rigidity.
