Reflecting eye in a bauble of gold,
The village lives in star-light,
A snowy scene, frosty and cold.
The legends and tales of Christmas unfold,
Donner and Blitzen are electric bright,
Reflecting eye in a bauble of gold.
The windows of houses are Georgian and old,
The luminous pond is in sight,
A snowy scene, frosty and cold.
Fragrant like wine from cellars sold,
The fresh air is spiced of the night,
Reflecting eye in a bauble of gold.
Boys fight in groups, staring bold,
Worrying the old with their might,
A snowy scene, frosty and cold.
Blue Stilton cheese veined with mould,
On lips now pursed, under mistletoe, tight:
Reflecting eye in a bauble of gold,
A snowy scene, frosty and cold.

Hi hilary,
you know I've just put my decorations and tree up,
then turned on to ABC Tales and your poem was the
first one I read, it was such a different kind of
festive poem and I really loved it.
Thanks for sharing.
Jenny.
