Minute particles of dust,
Floating in a shaft of light,
Suspended in the sun's stretch through the window.
Suspended in a ray of light
Elongating itself to the wooden floor.
I was in a foreign place,
Yet overwhelmed with familiarity, recognition.
A pause of time, holding a vision of my old,
Holding memories of homely rooms and hidden spaces.
My emotions, my mind, paused...
Transported from the here to then...
Hearing distant voices, smiling forgotten smiles.
Suspended particles, suspended breath,
Holding my heart... A few paused seconds for me,
A little part of me, so far from home,
A longing for, and a missing of the then;
And an understanding that it will always be with me.
Always

Hi Shannan,
I really loved this poem. I like the way you describe
your memories as:-
Minute particles of dust,
Floating in a shaft of light,
Suspended in the sun's stretch through the window.
Suspended in a ray of light
Elongating itself to the wooden floor.
Beautiful lines. Thankyou for sharing.
Jenny.
