A Winter Earned

In the solace of another hard winter, basking in the glory of a summer spent
The traffic, the madness, the heat, the sunscreen, the shade, the blistering and burning of unprotected skin, the alcohol abuse, the sleepless nights, the typical obligatory holiday where in the sun as if I wasn’t getting enough of this, the beaches, the sand the waves rolling up from a blue diamond ocean, oh how I love the ocean, full of mystery and inspiration, almost mythical.
Its winter now, the first frosts cover the ground, the trees are bare except revealing nests of birds long gone to pastures new, leaves covering the ground, hiding secrets of hibernation beneath.
Lighting fires to keep warm, and in those reflectory moments when you find yourself staring into the flames, reminiscent of the summer gone, you feel the warmth, the glow, the radiation of comfort knowing that this is a winter earned.
