I dream before I go to sleep
And hope my dreams will follow me-
If I go to sleep before I dream,
The sleep runs out ahead of them-
How empty is the night without
Some dreams to have to think about-
So I place my dreams beneath my eyes
Where sleep won't take me by surprise-

The length of this is perfect and the overall effect is very powerful. The only slightly missed beat for me is the word 'them' on line 4, where it feels like a rhyme should be. It felt a little awkward, which you could be aiming for. Beautiful work.
