Can’t get my head around
cooking for one...
the fridge – crammed
with odds of this,
sods of that,
not to mention
the other...all
in different,
Tupperware bowls;
just sitting here,
deep in thought...
a pregnant goldfish,
next door’s cat,
and a stick-insect
for company,
seeking inspiration
from Jamie Oliver,
no less, then
trying not to get
too carried away with
the intricacies involved
in doing what I’d really
like to do with half
a redundant cucumber.
You know the sort, don't you?
Those organic ridge ones...
The ones with hundreds
of vicious little
spikes on?

Hello Silver, a sad poem yet

Hello Silver, a sad poem yet appropriate for our times. You provide a nice scenario of woe and perhaps an understanding of no single fault, each of the characters to blame. Write a sequel of getting back together, (or discovering peace) OK? Cheers, Richard LP

This made me chuckle, the comical ending cancelling out the darkness of the opening. Nothing like a cumbersome cucumber to shake away those blues.

Nice one Tina,
Ahh! for the homegrown cucumber, nothing like it.
I agree with Blighters, like the fact you brought a
bit of humour in at the end.

Nice Tina. Felt like I heard your kitchen clock ticking. (Not metaphorical!) Sounds like you need a lock on the salad drawer!

Great poem tina,
sad well written. I too remember
bent wilted spikey cucumbers.
Like all the different items you mentioned,
hope things change for you. Images so good too!
Seems sad new or things not quite right maybe.
take care. Get a new fridge maybe aye! won't be crammed.

This is great, but what I really loved was such an innocent comment, afterwards.
And there's always baby fish to look forward to.

Hello Tina, Really liked
Hello Tina,
Really liked this poem but once again I'm struck by the form. Do you decide what form it will take before you start to write the poem or alter the content about until you are satisfied with the rhythm and the look?
"....crammed with odds of this, sods of that."
Great line.
