Bitter memory
P K Routray
I was waiting in the waiting hall for the doctor,
saw her name plate on the door.
Gita cathalina was the name I saw,
to my past memories of the school days me the name could throw.
Yes perhaps she was my class mate before forty years,
played ,joked and had youthful funs and tears.
A fat gray haired old lady used to visit her
Out of fun for her toothless face and old age we called her Linda dear.
We had many old teachers,
Behind them, on their old age we made many caricatures
The memory was exciting
Surely I longed for the meeting.
When I entered to doctor’s chamber,
I saw in doctor the fatty, oldie Linda dear.
Is she sweet Gita Cathalina or fatty, baldy Linda dear,
alive so far after forty year I had the fear.
After the check up, I asked the doctor,
where she had her schooling in her career
I recollected in recapitulating the school memories for her,
She agreed and asked me in which subject I was her teacher.
I heaved a sigh of grief after leaving her chamber,
Was our memory is so short and so bitter?
