Who Will Notice? Who Will Care?

Who Will Notice? Who Will Care?
The audience look on. Who’s out in front?
Is she well known? Has she had a write up done?
What about a photo shoot? Is she going to be campaigned?
Will she be the next big thing? Will she make it to the top?
Or will she be this year’s biggest flop?
They have all been trained to stand.
They know they must walk this way.
They must showcase breed or brand
They know that they must stay.
They have all been primed to start
They have every hair in place
They know they must look the part
They know they must walk with grace.
Some look edgy and stick thin
Some of them are losing hair
Some look miserable as sin
Some have a look of dark despair
The girl puts on a size zero dress
She feels sick, hungry and depressed
The scales reported her weight gain
Now her appetite must be suppressed
So pops a pill to numb the pain!
Indifferent to her own decline
She fights off all competition
Moving swiftly up the line
To win this orchestrated exhibition
All over for another year, the winner is proclaimed.
Flashing bulbs and notepads ready the vultures descend.
Bit of airbrushing here, lie or two there,
All makes for good copy.
This one had a temper tantrum. That one bit the judge.
All lies but who cares? Truth is redundant,
No market for truth! Fashion Show…Dog Show!
Who will notice? Who will care?
