I'm Sorry,

I could not stop your pain
That long drawn out harsh day
If only I could of.
It took every ounce of strength
I had left to leave you in that awful
over worked, unloved place, I
Could see your face as we approached
The tall black gates, built for
Prisoners they looked more suited for
Not kind, gentle people like
You Dad.
You held on to my hand so tight
A shiver so cold gave me a fright.
Although my heart broke that day
I knew it was the only way and at least
It was only going to be a short stay.
But for me my journey was yet to start
And it was made worse
With us being apart.
But I will fight this disease, I
Promise dad and come back stronger
Than ever and we will laugh again
Like we use to before this cruel
Painful twist of fate drained
Away our happy souls.
