Stephan walked out of the room
in his shorts
as I stirred from my sleep
on the bone-aching floor
He’d promised us breakfast
headlines and tea
so I stood up and
pulled on my jeans
Anna sat and smiled
from her pillows
watching me dress
from her side of the bed
Then swung out her legs
to the carpet
the dressing table
reflecting her face
The light in the room
was subdued
the curtains still drawn
as the kettle boiled
She looked in the mirror
and smiled
then pulled off her nightie
and shook out her hair
She searched me
with clear green eyes
as I bathed in the light
her smooth Celtic skin
Then I smiled back
and walked out the door
for breakfast and headlines
with Stephan

Very cinematic, PT. The poem drips off the page and I can picture everything perfectly. Well done on the cherries!
