Sleeping, Sleeping City

Sleeping, sleeping City
Dream
pink seashore shells
and gentle garden bells
Hush little baby, hush
Far are witches and wolves from the door
Soft sigh mothers turn in quiet beds
children supped their curds and whey
warm quilts wrap smooth shoulders
All gingerbread scented and milky way safe.
Fairies and godmothers turned keys in their locks
pulled drapes at windows to keep out
Those ugly catty scratchy Sisters,
Wicked twisted spitting Stepmother,
The Woodsman spying, fawning and lying
and oh!
That frightful raging jealous Queen...
Ssshhh the City is sleeping
beauty and calm
rooftops glow under snow white Moon
sweet twinkle, twinkle up in the sky
Far, far is the cry of the Chopper who comes to...
Hush little baby
Please don't cry
Mama's gonna buy you a lullaby
