I have never been to Rome
One day I will feel the ground shaking
I am flying on a sunburnt star of dreams
Quietly praying I will make it through the night
Living in a dragons mouth watering its tongue
Singing in harmonies as sweet sugar canes
You will never hear me complain
Standing on the brink of oblivion
Thinking of the girl I used to love
Dreaming of Rome in the summers spent
Tasting cinnamon swirls and heroin Sundays
Holding hands with the Devil with ring-a-ring-a roses smiles
Living in regret of all those wasted miles
Lost and found boxes containing moments of windswept chaos
Disenchanted fairy tales of sobering aligators
I am not a god nor do I believe
I am a contradiction of not knowing which way to turn
Self preservation of the cigarette burn
Time vanishes like ice cream in the sun
Country and Western music as forlorn as the second hand shoppers wallets
Nothing begins where beginning ends
Lost in a warehouse of memories
Lose another year
Treading so carefully to not fall in the darkness again
Travel to Rome to see collapsing ruins of gods and monsters
Feel the sun burn my face
As my disillusionment lays to waste
Visit the rivers where tears drown
If only I could cry would I then feel like a man
There is nothing I need except the craving
Of a finest hour
Where the insecurity dies and the me in me becomes a monolith
