Give me Delicious poetry
I don’t want the measure of meter
to manipulate my meal
or the riot of rhythm and rhyme
to override the pleasure
of my poetry on my palate.
I want words to roll
Deliciously off the curve of my tongue,
and syllables to be savoured…
Succulently…
Sensually…
No stanzas, concocted and contrived
in chopped, constructed meanings
Clashing and Colliding
like raw carrots and ice-cream.
Give me poems of juicy jewels
staining my lips with royal richness
leaving an after-taste
of phrase’s flavours
Reverberating enlightenment in my mind.
Let me say the sweet and savoury,
and relish a meal of mastery.
Let poetry, powerfully,
Subversively,
Subtly,
Sizzle.
Satisfy my senses;
and satiate my hunger.
