NEVER WOULD I WEEP

if streaming tears would bring her back
then never would i weep
if dreaming of her was the knack
then never would i sleep

and when she dies, if she should rise
up into heaven, high
i know i'd go to hell below
and not look at the sky

if talking back was worth a crack
then never would i speak
if walking back would be the tack
then never would i sneak

and if a poem would bring her home
i'd just forget to rhyme
if she's the rage this day and age
i'll just go back in time

if coin and cash would solve the math
then never would i spend
if being nice would be the price
then never i'd befriend

and if a kiss would bring her bliss
i'd cut off both my lips
and if a dance would bring romance
i swear i'd break my hips
