Prolouge and Chapter 1

Prologue
Over 3000 years ago there was a battle that raged across the world, it was of immense magnitude and had disastrous results. It was started by two very powerful wizards known as Purge and Balance. This battle became known as the Great Wizard War that was never forgotten. Everyone who fought in this battle died, with the exception of the two wizards. No one has heard of them since they went into hiding right after the battle.
Many years later on the same date that the battle ended two very special children were born. Now it is considered to be lucky be everyone, all over the world if you were born at this time. They believe people will do extraordinary things with their lives. Never before has this been true…until now. These two people have the ability to change or end the world.
 
Chapter 1 – The Beginning
In a tiny village named Oakland lived a girl named Mia. Mia was a tall and incredibly beautiful young woman. She had long, thick black hair with golden eyes. She lived in this village with her mother in a small cottage not far from the monumental oak tree that resides in the village square. The village gets its name from this oak tree. Many people have come to make promises under this tree over the years. It is considered to be hundreds of years old, however no one knows it’s true age. Its branches are knarled and twisted with the ravenous ages of time.
Mia loves this tree, when she was younger she played in this tree, she spent hours sitting at the bottom of it, her heading resting on the trunk, talking to it. For this reason many of the other people in the village find her strange. Mia ignores these people, she does not want to stay in the village anyway, she wants to explore the world. Find out if all the things the oak tree told her are true.
Meanwhile, in the city of Stonefield Gage is considering how to tell his mother he is going to explore the world. He is, and as always been a strong independent boy. He is tall and muscly with brown tousled hair; he also has eyes of the brightest blue. He hates the city and ever since he was a little boy he wanted to be in the forest surrounded by the wildlife and trees. He felt the trees could hear and communicate with him.
While he was sat pondering how to tell his mother he got a sharp pain across his chest, this pain brought him to his knees and he cried out. He realised someone was hurt and in danger, he also realised he cared about who it was.
Back in Oakland Mia had just tripped on one of the oak’s roots; she was sprawled on the floor gasping in pain. She had a sprained ankle. Mia had also heard a cry of pain that wasn’t hers. She looked around confused; she couldn’t see anyone and put the noise down to her own shock at hurting her ankle.
Gage had staggered back to his feet and leant back against the building to catch his breath. He could hear thoughts in his head, these thoughts were not his and he had no idea who they belonged to. He decided to find out, he sent a thought out, hello, I know you are hurt because I felt your pain. Now I can hear your thoughts. I am Gage and I live in Stonefield. Who are you? Do you have any idea why I can hear you? That should do it he said quietly to himself. He sat down with his back against the wall, his head rested on it with his eyes closed. He wondered if he would get a reply, he was also kind of nervous.
Mia was still on the floor under the tree; she had sat herself up and was leaning her head against the trunk, breathing deeply. A thought came to her, this thought wasn’t hers and it scared her. She continued to concentrate on it as it flashed through her head. She continued to sit, not thinking, not talking. She didn’t know if to reply or not, after about 10 minutes she decided she would. I’m Mia, from Oakland. I was hurt; I tripped and sprained my ankle. I have no idea why you can hear me. I find this all very strange. Do you think there is something up with us? Gage was surprised that he got a reply, he sent another thought back almost immediately. They continued to communicate in this way for the rest of the day.
Neither of them knew that from the moment their thoughts became shared they would be hunted. Both wizards had been waiting for these two people for over 3000 years. The moment their connection was forged the wizards began their search for them. Purge sent out scouts to search for anyone unusual in all the lands whereas Balance went and searched for them alone.
