Living in a doorway
has its own attractions
Sovereign of myself
and despised by everything
around me in equal measure
The cold gets me down
and the damp gets on my chest
but my soul is my own
I'm a Doctor of Words
and a Gentleman of Leisure
I'm invisible to you
Hidden in the here and now
You pass me every morning
with your head in a meeting
and your heart under pressure
When you walk past again
you would think I'd never moved
if you noticed me at all, but you don't
you just despise me and everything
around you in equal measure

I don't despise the homeless
I don't despise the homeless but I have little space in my life for more misery and am thankful that others have the spare time and energy to do something for them and care for them though there should be more people who care.
Nice poem PT
