Illogically
He's a mystery
A known unknown
Yet he's your blood flesh and bone
Bodies
And minds adapt to
A little person, familiar
And still so very new
Already changed your lives
He will transform them still
A ground-shaking start
A delicate miracle
Flipping switches
You never knew you had
To protect, promise and provide for
To learn and live for, mum and dad.
Fragile wee thing
Perfect fingers, little face
He's come out to meet you
Is he visiting from space?
This minature thief works quickly
He's plundered deep inside your heart
He's rearranged your furniture
Like a master of dark arts
You're seeing afresh through his sweet eyes
A world once assumed and fixed now falls
Developing strange proportions,
Distortions in stairs, windows and walls
He's a secret unlocked
A truth
A reason
He is love
