Shut-down

The engine shuts down
and there is silence

No sense of motion

Just an emptiness
where once had been something

Lights glow
and occasionally flicker

And I know
that something has come to an end

This is shut-down
right on the money

You are so right. Thanks both. It's one of those wringing your head out ones bashed into my phone on the train when everything around seems not worth the effort. I wasn't sure about that line but could have layered on even more. Thanks for the good advice.
