Deep under the bare breast of winter snow
are little seeds like stirrings of new love.
From them, sweet blooms like pouting lips shall flow,
blowing kisses to the bright sun above.
Then, touched by golden fingers, ice will thaw
and birds with wings like beating hearts shall soar;
Springtime will come and the whole world will seem
like a bright, beautiful young lover’s dream.
