Isabelle The Zombie Slayer

Isabelle was listening to the BBC in bed,
When suddenly her wireless hissed and pop the set went dead.
Young Isabelle she shrugged it off, though far from being the norm,
It must be some transformer struck by lightening from the storm.
So our heroine she dozed and dozed in blissful unawareness,
There was little here to fear except the thunderclaps in fairness.
But a comet had been orbiting our planet round and round,
When it broke its orbit, wobbled twice and hurtled to the ground.
The comet crashed in nearby fields where Grandma's hemp plants grow,
And behind her grove of sweet leaf trees began to grow and glow.
When Isabelle woke up that night she peered out from her room,
And horrified she spied wide-eyed space zombies in the gloom
To turn and flee in fright would be a normal girls reaction,
But Isabelle’s no normal girl she thrives on zombie action.
She grabbed her trusted vorpal sword from its secret hiding place.
And took some glue, somehow she knew it was needed in this case.
Now the vorpal sword as children know is great for monster slaying.
But zombies are already dead so Isabelle was praying.
She’d dreamt of slaying monsters in every situation,
But was her sword effective for a space zombie invasion?
Isabelle careered outside to see the zombies stumbling,
And each horrific monster was grimacing and mumbling.
We’ve come to take you back with us she heard the zombies scream,
To live a life in orbit and become our zombie queen.
My gosh thought Isabelle these guys are really gone.
It’s like all the monster comic books I’ve read rolled into one.
With that she took a breath and brushed aside her fears,
Then charged the crazy space zombies slicing off their ears.
Her vorpal blade went snicker-snack as lewis Caroll wrote
She’d sliced off all the zombie’s ears but had no time to gloat
The monsters were still coming they didn’t seam to fear her,
She screamed at them to leave her be but now they couldn’t hear her.
Isabelle escaped inside and slammed the kitchen door,
She spun around and spread the glue behind her on the floor.
The zombies weren’t that far behind and quickly burst inside.
And on the fresh adhesive mess began to slip and slide.
Stuck solid in the sticky glue the space zombies were done,
Isabelle took up her sword about to have some fun.
She’d finish off those monsters and release them from the glue,
But then she heard a woman’s voice, a voice she thought she knew.
Isabelle, dear Isabelle the voice came from above.
Don’t you know it’s time to go, you’ve overslept my love.
Our heroine was safe in bed , her mother came and found her,
Half asleep her comic books were spread out all around her.
Her mother stood in shadow, watching from the door.
Dear Isabelle she softly spoke, I’ve told you once before.
If you stay up reading zombie books and comics in your bed.
You’ll never sleep you’ll always keep those monsters in your head.
