He lay in a field and gazed at stars
The boy who waved at silver cars
And wondered if men might fly to Mars
The boy who waved at silver cars
He carried a gun for the Queen's Hussars
The boy who waved at silver cars
And told his stories in empty bars
The boy who waved at silver cars
Preserved his memories in earthen jars
And still he waves at silver cars
In the hope that one of them might be yours
He'll never stop waving at silver cars
