Why Now?
P K Routray
In childhood
You failed again and again
to stand up and walk alone then.
But you did never quit
high was your spirit.
You tried yourself to express
but you babbled in the process.
but you did not quit
again and again you did repeat.
At teen age
Home tasks at home and class tests at class room,
with parents and teachers’ strenuous watch on you to bloom,
maddening was the pressure,
lecture and fear of failure.
difficult were mathematics and literatures,
science, biology and subject others,
followed by examination after examination,
result is uncertain with pass or fail and division.
Monotones, strain and boredom but no remission
twenty years of such life no respite from tension,
but you did never quit
and at last you did it.
On the job and pn the family front
You were wretch on your financial pocket and also lacked in material wealth,
had fought with your wife and received family member’s wrath,
Your children could not come up to your expectation and had set back,
at times unexpected happened shocking and taking you aback.
On the job you were overlooked and ignored for promotion,
Juniors, peers and seniors at times made you face misery and humiliation.
Things did not happen as you desired
You pulled on without much ado till you retired.
but you did not quit
nor took off and volunteer retirement being unfit.
After retirement
You have freedom to sleep, sing or dance at your own fancy,
write, read, play and gossip with your own fantasy, classy,
People may tell that you have gone insane,
a liability to society and to this jet aged society you are a bane.
Do not get disturbed and never quit.
all will be one day like you, soon they will realize and admit.
