FEAR OF DARKNESS

some people fear the darkness
its quite common, i have found
i do believe that they perceive
that demons will surround

not monsters from their childhoods
that would lurk beneath their beds
but as they're blind, i mean the kind
that dwell inside their heads

but there's another darkness
and i want to make this clear
for in this place, there looms the face
of ignorance, i fear

i find there are some folks
that are imprisoned by this thing
inside their booth, they shun the truth
that knowledge would soon bring

there is no shame in angst
when shades of darkness fill the room
there's no disgrace, when thoughts are laced
by shadows that may loom

but pitiful, are people
who remain there in the dark
their ignorance is so immense
they never see the spark
