FILIPENDULOUS

a spider has the skills to weave
a thread so very fine
and though it looks quite fragile
it contains a strength, divine

so that dangling little spider
doesn't feel an ounce of dread
no reason for concern
when they are hanging by a thread

alas, we are not spiders
and at times when we must cope
we find we're hanging by a thread
with just a shred of hope

but if you have a friend that's true
there's no cause for alarm
for stronger than a cable
is that friend's extended arm

at times we do not notice
that the threat of danger lies
but friends can point that out to you
and make you realize

we've heard the tale of damocles
a sword above his head
and all that kept him safe
was just a tiny little thread

so take a tip from spiders
weave a web of many friends
be part of a vast network
for on this, your life depends
