Speak to me
before I wear out my skin with
fever fingers stroking in prayer
(Mor never told me there’d be days like this)
when pages turn on their own
and our importance
breaks through barriers
of pulsing beats
hidden among hearts
that we have been taught to pronounce
at great volume-
whereas silence is word upon word
stolen from the blind man
(Far never told me there’d be days like this)
I dream instead of streaming gutters but
nothing ever did me in as much as this
accessible route
open to pain and pleasure,
on days like this

I really like it when poems
I really like it when poems include italicised lines especially when it's concise and adds piquancy to the whole. Well done with this Pia.

Hey Pia,
Good poem.
I have a question, so please excuse my ignorance. How do you italicize lines here? I cannot indent paragraphs, nor can I italicize. It is all erased when I transfer it from my files to this site.

Too bad I cannot go back in time. Several things needed italics in previous stuff I have posted. At least I know now.

The ability to express
Permalink Submitted by skinner_jennifer on
The ability to express feelings in such a poetic
way, is not an easy thing to do, but you always
manage to use such compelling metaphors, that always
make me think about your writing and that is what
I admire about you Pia.
Well done on this piece.
Jenny.

I think the change in tone
I think the change in tone of the final five lines, which are far more 'earthy' in comparison with what has gone before (soft and sensitive), is really effective, Pia. Did you intend it, or did it just happen? However it was achieved, it worked really well. Much enjoyed.

You write very beautiful

You write very beautiful emmotionally charged poems. I often can't understand them (there's a lot of modern poetry that I can't understand) and yet the emmotion pours through.
