and without appetite.
Willow limbs
bent beneath a pall of winter
doldrums---wetness
of snow dragging spirits
and birch looking flushed
white with worry. The season is
not according to plan --
first day of Spring.
The promise of berry sprouts
in warmer days now
gone astray with snowfall
continuing its way.
In time of sunless sky –
and dampness a cause for
birds to rest
animals to hide away
and a Blue Jay’s flirting put
off for another day.

Still thinking of Susan

Hi Richard and Esther. You have just completely blown a stereotype. Every time snow stops play here I point to Canada (figuratively - I don't always know where it is) and say "It wouldn't happen there". But it does.
People are living longer but we're not treating them well in this country. Tell me it's better in Canada.
Will keep Susan in my thoughts.
