When I was young
all I wanted to do was talk
fill in the void
the empty silences
I wasn't interested
in all you had to say
it might threaten or unease me
I might be exposed
Experience came
and I didn't want to talk
too much about myself
it was easier
to let you unburden
and take a back seat
let myself be hidden
Now I am happier
I love to listen
as long as you are listening too
nothing worse
than a one way conversation
with someone who loves the word 'I'
I get so much
from hearing what you say
from learning from your thoughts
it helps me hear my own
thank you for listening..
and helping me grow

Well done, Pixie. I enjoyed reading about the knowledge you learned, and expressed it very well, in this poem. Richard

This bobs along very well, as fluid a conversational piece as I've read for a while.
