Warm today
Has spring
finally sprung?
Under the sun
the dogwood –
red-stemmed
gives birth
to its blossom...
each flower
a tiny cross
Under the sun
the daffodils,
at last,
have sounded
their golden trumpets
and under the sun
the great, grey heron
has flown
defined its territory
across these brown
frowning hills
Under the sun
a patch of catnip
lures a marmalade tom
Under the sun
a farmer tills the field
whistles a shade
of ripening corn
Under the sun
a fox
with a gorgeous
tawny mask –
yawns, goes
back to sleep
and soil,
under
the freeway
under
the sun
dreams of green
and of grass
long gone

A beautiful poem Tina, that sums up everything
about the season. Loved the stanza about the fox,
really endearing.

I do believe you are one of nature's fairies Tina-living under a mulberry leaf with a snails silver as your coat and a daffodil as your dress- and of course your Doc M boots- not to forget hubby as a little elf. These nature poems are so passionately written. They are pure luxury to read- such(ness) richness- can you say richness? Well you know what I mean? Thank you for even more Spring time atmosphere than sitting in my garden watching birds and bees and butterflies-all chasing each other.
;)Pia
