PARADISE REVISITED

A Summer’s day lazing on a warm Hampshire beach
Toes kissed by a gossamer sea
Trickling through silken sand;
Dreamy eyelids flutter, half-closing,
Watching the yachts bobbing just out of reach
Nudging each other gently round the Island
Like floating white clouds on this perfect day.
Then a luxurious warm, deep bath
With Opium perfumed foam.
Cocooned in a fluffy white gown;
Hair dried by a gentle breeze through the bedroom window
Looking out to sea;
Then a blissful rest on a fresh clean bed, just dozing;
I drift to the sighing of gentle waves lapping the shore
And the tinkling of tide-washed stones;
With the sound of my darling on the verandah below
Clinking lemon and ice in my gin and tonic
Waiting for me.
Could I ask for more?
If this isn’t paradise, it must be just a breath away.
