Ambushed by shocking pink
we are engulfed
in a sudden embrace
of unexpected glory
We cling
rootless trees in windless air
to stay the sway
of shifting earth beneath
as the intoxication of pines
flood, invade our blood
Till hearts pound in sylvan silence
arresting breath and birdsong
and sunbeams halt their quest
for unsuspecting bowers
We succumb
lost in heady oblivion
gulping eternity upon our lips
as twinkling azalean starbursts
smile their benediction
