the starry blanket falling
as the sun begins its quest
the tip of golden crown
above the mountaintop will crest
.
the whip-poor-wills and mockingbirds
may serenade all night
but most birds start their chorus
in their awe of morning light
.
the fingers of the grasslands
start to sway as lifted high
to honor sweet Aurora
whose hot candle fills the sky
.
the seas that laid impassive
as the moon began its ride
mount the blushing steeds of sunrise
and then navigate the tide
.
our sphere is ever turning
no departure in its sway
with embryonic ripples
stretching out the other way
.
as one hemisphere's relinquishing
their realm up to the ghosts
the bloom of luminosity
breaks through on far flung coasts
.
the earth's pandiculation
is a deep and stretching yawn
a gift that's opened just for us
the miracle of dawn

That's good Alvin. Somehow I know whenever I read a poem that you have penned I am going to end up feeling uplifted and smiling. Beautiful writing.
