In a nocturnal mood.

I love the night when the sun
Disappears behind the curved hand of the earth
And the heat of the ground dissipates
Into the blackness of the sky
When the temperature cools
And the birds take their rest,
When the lime light of lamps
Resemble petals of the silvery moon.
All is peaceful,
No more honking horns or bleating sirens
No more the voices and laughter of children…
And mothers calling to their young.
No more the sound of the enemy
Flying his arrows at noon day…
Or the useless wasting of energy spent
Trying to grasp solitude in the glaring sun.
There is a tranquil calm and reassurance
And the only sound I hear
Are the distant hums of motor cars
And dulcet tones of dinner Jazz on the radio.
The air becomes still and vacuums the sound…
I relax in slippers, coffee and dressing gown.
The world I leave behind
And the night creates one of its own,
Splendid in mystery the master of my throne.
I love the night and the moment it shares
Reminding me of the need to be still
And knowing that God is still there.

The rush can certainly push
The rush can certainly push that last thought out of mind these days, we do so need quiet to catch up – both on ourselves and fellowship with God. Interesting writing.
