Released Words

Two a penny, very many,
gushing, rushing,
worthless, reckless,
fiercely pierce,
curse, or worse,
provoke, or stoke
fires of hate,
can’t dam the spate,
regret you let
your tongue go wild
defiling and defiled.
Hush the gush.
Priceless few
precious, true,
gently defusing
anger that’s tense
with humour and sense
carefully choosing
and using with thought
what should do good
and give support
to those who are caught
in grief, bring relief,
soothe and heal,
and you too feel
pleasure, not shamed,
for a tongue, when tamed
is an invaluable,
immeasurable treasure.
