a smile can also express something very subtle, sexual interest. when a woman finds a person whom she wants to mate with, she may smile. it is hard to interpret that smile because every smile from a woman seems to be a Mona Lisa smile. at such times, if you show the slightest sign of contempt, then she will turn on you. for when a woman chooses to give freely of herself, the greatest insult is to reject it and yet we must reject because we are men and we are not as dictated by grace as women or let us hope not. now let us move on to the Mona Lisa smile. what does it mean? if it questioning the highest values of Christian Humanist society? a woman who represents the perfect balance between male and female characteristics, the female equivalent of Leonardo himself, his alterego, is Leonardo wondering if Mona Lisa is the end of civilization in terms of personality and is that why she is smiling? Do we smile when our masculine and feminine parts of personality actually meet and are in harmony for once?

Steve, I hope you don't mind me saying this but the sentiments expressed in this piece seem to be based on sexist stereotyping of the most ingrained type.

Well Steve this is an extract
Well Steve this is an extract from your piece:
"it is hard to interpret that smile because every smile from a woman seems to be a Mona Lisa smile. at such times, if you show the slightest sign of contempt, then she will turn on you. for when a woman chooses to give freely of herself, the greatest insult is to reject it and yet we must reject because we are men and we are not as dictated by grace as women"
I assume that you are male even if you are not the interpretation remains sound. Here in the first line you impose a male perspective on woman in that they are guileful and entrapping, then your next point insists that women are aggressive to males that scorn them.
You third point identifies female conceit and how women are far more likely to be hurt by the rejection of an amorous approach.
Your final point maintains that men are less sensitive than women and therefore can act in a way that is based more on rationality than sensitive subjectivity evidenced in women's behaviour.
These are some of the reasons that what you have written can be fairly interpreted as both sexist and grossly generalised.

Perhaps the flow of the
Perhaps the flow of the writing (together with an image of a smile) is its main meaning and the 'generalised' notions are secondary. I like the end bit about Leonardo Elsie
