All Good
P K Routray
Be good, act good,
Think good, see good
talk good, listen good,
beauty is good, virtue is good
to love is good, to serve is good
all these, the man is taught since childhood.
Bad finds no place,
ugliness, man always seeks to replace.
To shun filth and vice is the lesson
in the heart of hearts lies this vision.
But we observe not to our surprise
blessing lies in many dirt and filths in guise.
From the mud and the mire
Born are lily and lotus, with delight we stare.
A beautiful rose has hurting thorns
on its steam and leaf, which the poet mourns.
The deed of a small girl, I remember
at her home garden she saw a beautiful flower
adorning a pot over its luxuriant plant, which captivated her.
But at its root on the pot there was filth and dirt
filth with such beauty, at its sight she got hurt.
Uprooted she the tree and cleaned its root
described her deeds to her father asking him to moot.
Little did she know the flower needs manure
to be vibrant and beautiful adding to its grandeur.
God’s creation is wonderful, mysterious and beyond perception of man
What appears as filth and dirt to him may be nectar to his clan.
Imagine the world with everything good, nothing bad
dull drab will be the earth, man will be deranged and mad.
