Wounded

Thought I was over the pain
You caused me.
But it turns out old wounds can
Always bleed.
I made myself throw out all of the photographs.
You walked away and left us
Without a second glance.
I guess I'll forgive but I don't think I will forget.
I can't help but wonder how you've been.
It was like we vanished with-
Out a trail.
When you got home did you think
You had failed?
I made myself throw out all of the photographs.
You let us go and left
Without a second glance.
I guess I'll forgive but I know I will never forget.
And tell myself I don't care how you've been.
Drift backward,
However,
It was so many years ago.
Drift backward,
However,
It was so many years ago.
The truth is,
So useless
To me now,
Why are you in my head?
The truth is,
So useless
To me now,
Why are you in my head?
Since we left not one light,
You let us go without a fight.
I cannot turn back time,
But I'll erase you from my mind.

I really admire the
I really admire the contradictions in the speakers sentiments expressed so well in this very good poem. I'm less keen on the use of capital letters at the start of each line but that is an easy fix if you decided to go with it. Well done.

I think this looked a little clumsy in a couple of places - I don't think it needed breaking up into so many lines - but that's a quibble. It does a very good job at conveying some complicated emotions in clear language, and doesn't chew over them any more than they need. Very good poem Nopride.
