Who Edukates Me?

The elite have spoken, they say ‘education for all’
But Years from now my people will sit in the back of class rooms
while those un-willing to learn create those un-willing to teach.
We will suffer the consequences of your closed minds.
You will play lacrosse and take part in useless debates.
My people will not have voices
because your people will speak for us.
You will delude yourself into thinking
you are one of the masses.
We will be suffering the repercussions
of your latest policy.
Your name will be written in stone
and ours will be written in sand.
Your people will leave their job
believing they have changed the world.
My people will leave with their notice
and their last pay cheque.
The next generation of my people have spoken,
ugly red letters, spray-painted carelessly,
an alley way, graffiti on the wall.
‘who edukates me’ - a truth they can’t paint over
inescapable to every tired eye that demands a change.

This is a really strong poem
This is a really strong poem Lois and rings so true for all generations I would say. Amongst several really good lines I particularly liked 'those unwilling tolearn create those unwilling to teach'. Very much enjoyed this.
