Unfortunately

too many enjoy trying

to fell tall trees

when they should be hugged.

We need to learn to look up.

Interesting obsevation. I think the problem is not so much that we are trying - but that we are succeeding. I'm assuming it's the trees that should be hugged, not the people who fell them...

You've got me trying to decide if I can actually look up, whilst hugging. 

Enjoyed thinking about this.

I do believe trees should be hugged but I was actually using them as a metaphor, here.

The trigger for this poem was a friend loosing a favourite uncle, a public figure who had been derided for his magnificent achievements. (Tall Poppy Syndrome is rife in Australia.)

I say I'm 5' 3" but really - now years have weighed me down (not my weight you understand laugh), I'm probably 5'2".  So pleased you enjoyed my little poem.
