“When I am gone …”
By Rhiannonw
- 3003 reads
‘No-one will worry when I die,
they’ll all be glad when I am gone,’
‘Do you love them? Do you try?
or think about yourself alone?’
‘If you show them that you care
then some will miss you and be sad;
If you take an interest, share,
when you’re gone they won’t be glad.’

Good point, well made that if we involve ourselves in the lives of others this involvement may be mutual. Open to debate too. A person can run themselves ragged caring for a truly thankless individual, another may have some-one care about them simply because the second person is the caring sort. I have 2 daughters and the younger is far more emotionally there for me than the elder. It's not about right or wrong it's sometimes simply about the way we're made. Elsie

Food for thought here, Rhiannon. Very true, but difficult to do when depressed. It's a vicious circle.
Good poem.

I liked it too because I think you are right. What is that saying 'It is better to give than to receive.' There are people who are takers and there are people who are givers. I know which I find the most appealing. A poem with a moral.

Used to be a saying of my grandma's, 'You only gets out, what you put in'. An over simplification in this case, but true, to a degree.
There is much food for thought in your poem, Rhiannon. Well, and succinctly, put.
