Emily

I painted Emily in oil on canvas
in gentle tints of blues and gold,
closed her eyes and smoothed her brow-line
and let her dream the dreams of old.
I brushed her hair with streams of silver
and watched it flow upon a breeze.
I blushed a smile on lips so tender
and felt her breathe the breath of seas.
I painted Emily in flowers of springtime
reclining, bathing in warm sun
and heard her singing sentimental -
no longer sad, when I was done.

Is the picture yours, Bee?
Is the picture yours, Bee? This has a lovely feel of painting someone and mixing it with memories and so many thoughts of the person that can't be painted on and yet somehow can affect the painting to somehow impart character and experiences. Rhiannon

How lucky you are that you
How lucky you are that you can paint in addition to writing. How lucky Emily is to have you as a mother Elsie

Hello Bee. How beautiful.
Hello Bee. How beautiful. What magic there is in these two things. The painting is wonderful. And to render such wonderful words around it. Just lovely, Bee. I am really impressed. Marvellous.

Hi Bee,
Hi Bee,
As I was reading it, I thought maybe it was about your daughter, and I am glad that it turned out to be. It had such a gentle loving feel about the choice of words.

Can't think how I missed this
Can't think how I missed this little gem, Bee....both the picture and the poem.
You are so very talented. I love to paint, but rarely get the time...my stuff though is usually daubed on with a palette knife, simply because I can't draw, for the life of me. It's a cop-out if the truth be known, which is why I more than admire true artists, such as yourself.
Simply beautiful.

This is more than a painting
This is more than a painting to me because Emily becomes the world.I picture her with all the accessories of the sea with her. It's sea picturesque and has a lulling affect.

What can I say after so many
What can I say after so many glowing tributes, Bee? That the painting equals the poem in brilliance. Absolutely superb.
