Dare you stand
toe-edged above eternal drop
poised perfection as frozen fire
crown centred to heaven
soles glued to grassy earth
a rod of steel sure faith
safe imbedded, unwavering
while ocean crashes underfoot
and Spring gales whip
grey tinged cotton clouds
to feathered shreds?
There stood I
at cusp of rediscovered self
belly sucked so precipice is undisguised
so plunging in harebrained abandon
flinging far the feckless self
upon unseen thermals of wingéd Spirit
becomes a clear and present danger?
Yet I was rooted
abject terror blinding
eyes trained on unfamiliar shores
strained heart hammering
reluctant to relinquish even
the rottenness of a past imperfect
to bravely fall into the fidelity
of dreams fulfilled and
not nightmares imagined.
