a 'you-shaped hole' – that's very expressive of loss of any kind, and so difficult for anyone else to understand and appreciate.

Hey, Tina, 3 weeks ago I was listening to an autobiographical piece, written by a woman in my local writing group and Muriel did everything you listed in the household repair line! Her long marriage had been happy and she pulled herself up from grief as best she could by extending her practical DIY skills and doing a lot of the builder's work herself.
Some good stand-out phrases 'pedalling on the grief cycle', the dripping tap symbolising how pain can drip into the widow slowly and ruthlessly. Elsie

Hi Tina,
Hi Tina,
this poem reminds me how important it is to make the most of the time I have with my partner. Loosing someone special is the hardest part of being in love, because when they're gone you find yourself with so many gaps to fill.
Coming back to your poem though, you've got the situation summed up wonderfully...the acceptance of sudden freedom to do what you want, reminds us all that to break free of loss, we need to do and not dwell to much...if you know what I mean, though I can imagine it's not easy.
Beautifully written as always.
Jenny.
