Because I can speak

The clouds keep passing over
but it’s still recognisably summer
The kids in the park
lithe and lean
Male, female
it doesn’t matter
It all means the same
Crouched, smoking
Kicking footballs
Who cares?
I called in the kebab take-away
Turkish
I asked them
“Where you from?
Istanbul?
Ankara?"
I’ve been to Istanbul
My friends lived in Ankara
Their daughter’s first word was anne
They didn’t give a shit
Actually
Would you?
Living here?
At least the sun's still shining

Parson, the title of a poem
Parson, the title of a poem appears on the home page, so it has to be U rated - you can either do the asterisk thing, or change the word. Hope you understand - silly rule, I know, but tony and luke get in trouble otherwise

An interesting and thought
An interesting and thought provoking poem with a kind of flat feeling to it. I like it, and actually prefer this edited title which I feel does not detract from the content.
Hope you are well.
