The calm after the storm (IP)

A whirling storm
brought battering harm.
A sudden stillness,
quaking calm –
glittering drops
of rain left hanging,
tiled rooftops
askew, bits dangling;
and tentatively emerging
subdued residents
viewing, foraging
to make an inventory
and rescue some pottery,
bin lid, and washing line; –
soothed by the sunshine,
comforting, warming balm
of the post-storm calm.

This IP made me think of the weather we are having
at the moment, and then the calm of the Spring to
come.
Nice one Rhiannon. You summed it up nicely.

Hello Rhiannonw, This
Hello Rhiannonw,
This brought back memories of 1987 hurricane. I saw trees bend in half and next morning we found that we had a cattery roof fly over our mobile home and land in field. Another roof came off one block of kennels.
It was very frightening but no animals hurt and I remember the calm afterwards too.

HI Rhiannon
HI Rhiannon
Another fine poem about nature in all its glory. I think the time during and just after a storm is very exciting. I've never been in a storm which caused lots of damage, so I guess I am lucky in that way. One of my uncles had his wooden house split in two by lightning and other relatives have survived tornados.
