Please and … (IP)

Buying tins from off the shelf,
I realise that it’s not myself
who raised the beans, and cooked, preserved –
so,
many farmers have deserved
my thanks for all their work – have they
received enough of what I pay?
and, are they thankful for the crop
that they’ve delivered to the shop?
Thankful for what? for rain and sun,
that floods and whirlwinds haven’t come –
they’re surely frequently aware
of such, and of the need for prayer
– to whom? Who can control, provide
enough to share while earth abide
with all its present pest and pain?
then they and I should not refrain
from giving thanks again, again
– appropriate refrain!

An appropriate refrain,
An appropriate refrain, Rhiannon, that shows to whom gratitude should be aimed. Skilfully crafted poem in rhyming couplets.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
An interesting alternative to the usual Thanksgiving type stories. We certainly do need to have a thought and word of thanks for those who do the hard work of keeping us provided with food.

A great take on the I.P.
A great take on the I.P. Rhiannon. I must admit, that one got me foxed, but you coped, admirably. Brilliantly written, as Luigi says.
